Dani Pedrosa’s performance during 2010 season
Among all the emerging stars in MotoGP, Dani Pedrosa has probably the most potential and talent to be a MotoGP champion. However, as Casey Stoner has already won it, and Jorge Lorenzo is getting close to it, Dani Pedrosa, on the other hand, has always fallen short of target.
In the previous seasons Pedrosa had been performing well till the halfway mark. However, due to some mishaps or unforced errors, Pedrosa always lost his ground in the second half. This season is a little different for the Spaniard, as he has been chasing the leaders from the very start of 2010 Season.
The performances shown by Pedrosa have been steady during this season, as he is currently second in the points table. Pedrosa had his winning moments in this season, as he stood on the podium five times. Also, he was able to win two races as well, for which he had to work very hard. Apart from that, Pedrosa had been consistently showing his wonderful starts in this season, almost leading every race at the start, from back in the row positions. However, the Spaniard had his frustrating moments as well, due to which he is currently lagging behind the leader by 72 points.
The pre-season testing was not good for Rapsol Honda, which proved to be troublesome during the first race in Qatar. Pedrosa finished seventh, while battling hard on his inconsistent bike. However, he worked hard and came back with a second place finish in Jerez. This time, he battled hard with Jorge Lorenzo, throughout the race, who eventually took the first spot. Nevertheless, the second race showed good signs for Honda, while Pedrosa seemed to regain his sublime touch as well.
Pedrosa’s season in MotoGP proved to be inconsistent, as he finished in fifth place at Le Mans. Although, he was in third spot, but somehow lost two positions on his final lap of the GP. Things turned around in Mugello, where Pedrosa got another pole position; while this time he was also able to hold-off Jorge Lorenzo, to take his first victory of the season.
Silverstone did not prove to be fruitful either. Dani Pedrosa had his series of mishaps, which led him to crash during his qualification run. He was not able to make-up the lost ground during the race, as he finished in eighth place. After this the Honda team worked hard to make adjustments to their bike, which brought Pedrosa a series of good results. He got a second place in Assen and a second place in Catalunya as well. After a morale boosting series of runs, Pedrosa was able to win his next race in Sachsenring. Pedrosa was able to counter the challenge of Jorge Lorenzo in an effective manner, as his bike seemed almost in perfect shape.
However, these moments did not last long, as the ninth race of 2010 Season clearly depicted the season for the Spaniard. He was leading the race, after one of his incredible starts, before he crashed out under pressure. This time, the bike was doing great for Pedrosa, however, he pushed very hard to keep Lorenzo at bay. This led to an ultimate disaster, as Pedrosa was unable to finish the race, giving Lorenzo a healthy lead in the points table.
At the end of first half, Pedrosa must be relaxed as the problems with the bike seem to be over, which is obvious from his performances in last four races. Also, Dani Pedrosa might be contented with his season so far, as he has shown his ability to challenge the supremacy of FIAT Yamaha riders. However, the only setback is the crash in Laguna Seca, which resulted in the championship getting further away from Pedrosa.
