The Brazilian full-back recently commented on the Catalan giant’s shirt which labels them as ‘World Champions’ as they won the FIFA Club World Cup last season.
Barcelona were unable to win the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish La Liga last season, but something which they were able to win was the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Catalan giants were able to beat the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c32532 in the final of the prestigious tournament and were labelled as the best side in the world later on.
However, Josep Guardiola faced a few hitches during the campaign and he was unable to continue the same winning ways for La Blaugrana and the Catalan giants lost two very important titles.
Even though Real Madrid won La Liga and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are the side who have shirts which labels them as ‘World Champions’ and that is the reason why they are the ‘team to beat’ right
now.
Barcelona were widely considered as not only the best team in the world, but also the best team in the history of football when Josep Guardiola was able to fire them to 14 titles in only three seasons.
Guardiola has now left the Catalan club and it might be difficult for the Spanish giants to continue their winning ways under their new coach, Tito Vilanova.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Alves thinks otherwise and believes Barcelona are still the side to beat.
While speaking to the press about La Blaugrana, the Brazilian full-back said:
“We’re still the team to beat because we’re the best team in the world. We’re the ones that have the logo on our shirts that distinguishes us as world champions."
Currently, nothing can be said about the upcoming La Liga season as Barcelona are considered to be like a time bomb.
Either the Catalan giants are going to get back to their winning ways under Tito Vilanova, or they will be unable to adapt to his tactics and will flop miserable.
Barcelona fans should hope that Tito Vilanova does not change a lot of things at the Nou Camp, as La Blaugrana operate just fine under Josep Guardiola’s tiki-taka style of play.
