Daniel Bell-Drummond signs professional contract with Kent
Teenage batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond has signed his first professional cricket contract at Kent County Cricket Club.
The 17-year-old has been at the county since under-10 level and his first contract will run until the end of the 2013 season. Bell-Drummond has also played for the England under-19 side.
"He is without doubt one of the most talented young players in the country. He is yet another great example and role model for young cricketers across the county. We have all been excited by his potential
for many years, and he really is a product of the Kent youth development system," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Farbrace-c81060.
This is a great deal, which will aid the player in many ways. However, the county will have to protect him next season and beyond because he is still very young.
A great deal
This is a great deal for the player because it offers him all of the security that comes with a professional deal. Bell-Drummond can look forward to swift medical care as well as more money than he's ever
had before.
It provides the player with a solid platform to play on during the next three seasons. This is crucial because Bell-Drummond is bound to have ambitions to play regularly for Kent and ultimately the England
senior team.
The danger is his age and inexperience. The county may have to step in at various points in the near future to protect the player. This will be vital if media attention around Bell-Drummond increases.
"I have seen him progress from our under-10s to a professional contract and he has worked very hard. It is so pleasing to see players emerge
from our development programmes and speaks volumes for the excellent structures we have in place," added chief executive Jamie Clifford.
Betting advice
Keep a close eye on Bell-Drummond because he is definitely a player for the future. Watch how he plays in Kent's first few games next season. If he starts well then back him to get regular centuries because
he'll be eager and determined to achieve this.
