Daniel Chopra bounces back from triple and double bogeys at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans – Golf News
Daniel Chopra carded a two-under par 70 in the second round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans to tie for the 11th position, at TPC Louisiana, on Friday, April 27, 2012.
It was not just a normal golf round. In fact, Chopra carded a total of eight birdies and a bogey. However, he built a snowman on the 11th hole when it took him eight shots to finish the par-five hole.
In addition to that, a double bogey on the par-four 16th increased his troubles, as he started his round on the back nine of the course.
He was three-over through the six holes. Yet, he did not lose confidence in his game and bounced back strongly to finish four strokes behind the leader Jason Dufner.
Earlier in the opening round on Thursday, he was impressive in recording a bogey-free six-under par 66 with the help of six birdies.
“Yeah, I played well today,” he said after opening round. “It was a good day. First group of the day, I haven't had that in a long time so, it's -- not usually playing early in the morning”.
“So the first couple holes, it was good and once I got into the round, the whole group played well after that”.
Greg Chalmers was another player who registered an interesting round on Friday. He carded a total of nine birdies and an eagle against three bogeys to record an eight-under par score.
He is currently tied for the fifth position, with a score of 10-under par after two rounds.
Steve Stricker shared the lead after carding a six-under par score through 10 holes. A couple of bogeys on the 12th and 15th hole took him back to tie-5 spot.
“I played really solid all the way through 11 and then missed that putt at 11 and kind of lost my thought process there for a little bit,” he said. “Hit a poor tee ball at 12. I actually played pretty good coming in but didn't get any putts to drop”.
By and large, he is happy with his performance and confident to record another two good rounds in the tournament.
