Daniel Cormier is ready for Frank Mir and Jon Jones – UFC News
Daniel Cormier is definitely among the best light heavyweights of the mixed martial arts world, and he has surely proven so. Cormier stands as an undefeated fighter and a Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament winner. He will be making his Ultimate
Fighting Championship debut in 2013 and will probably be taking on Frank Mir or light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Cormier has bagged 10 victories with no losses in his career to date. Cormier is set to face his final Strikeforce opponent in January. If he wins, he wants to go on to face Frank Mir in his UFC debut.
“That's the fight I want. Listen, Frank Mir and I have some unfinished business,” said Cormier to the MMA Hour. “I had put in a full camp training camp for Frank, and to not get to fight him at the end of it was disappointing. So hopefully I get through
this fight with Dion, hopefully the hand holds up this time and I don't break it or anything, and then I can win the fight and move on to Frank. I would like to fight Dion in January. I know the Montreal card is filling up pretty nicely, but I'd like Frank
and I to be on the one after that.”
While Cormier is aiming Mir for his debut fight, there are chances that he is being eyed for a match against light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Probably, it will Cormier’s chance to grab a title since he is an unbeaten fighter who has proven himself tie
and again.
If President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White sees Mir fit for Cormier, the fight will happen for sure. However, since White is being restless for creating super-fights in the UFC next year, chances are that he might put Cormier against Jon
Jones, to ensure fans get a super showdown.
Cormier still needs to prove himself against UFC contenders if he wants to make it big in the federation. To fight Jones in his debut outing would be a suicide attempt for his career. If he loses, he will not be able to revive his career so soon.
