Daniel Cormier might face Jon Jones next – UFC News
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White might just be in the mood to offer Daniel Cormier a chance to take on light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Daniel Cormier is an undefeated fight who stands with 10 wins. He is the title contender
for the heavyweight championship of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
However, since both fighters are teammates, they are not willing to fight each other at any cost. At UFC 155’s post fight conference, Cormier and heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez clearly spoke out against the idea of a showdown between the two.
For the UFC, this was a little shocking since both fighters are at the top of their game. For UFC, Cormier is a promising fighter who can be the next big thing in the business. If he does not want to fight Cain then they are ready to make arrangements to
get him another spectacular match.
“It's awesome, he (Cormier) is going to bring a lot of excitement to the heavyweight or light heavyweight division, you know. And he could be next in line to fight (Jon) Jones,” said White during the post-fight conference of UFC 155.
It should be noted here that White is interested in the idea of putting UFC heavyweight champion Cain against Strikeforce fighter Daniel Cormier. However, for White, it is not an idea that cannot be altered. Maybe if Cormier does not want to face Cain, White
can put him against Jones to make things a little spicier.
Jon Jones is currently scheduled to face Chael Sonnen in order to settle down the personal grudges both fighters have. There has not been news as to who will be Jones’ next opponent if he defeat Sonnen.
Probably, White has already hinted out on Jones’ next opponent and that is Cormier. If things work out, Cormier might be up against one of UFC’s best fighters and one of the best mixed martial artists in the world Jon Jones.
If not Cain then White would make sure Cormier gets an opponent who is worth putting against Cormier. For White, it would be Jones if Cormier is willing to go down to the light heavyweight division.
