Daniel Farid knocks down Akashraj in Boy’s Singles final of State Ranking Badminton Tournament
India’s Daniel Farid S ruled the court in the final match of Boy’s Singles Under-17 category of Udupi 5 Star State Ranking Badminton Tournament on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
He outshined local campaigner Akashraj Murthy in just two games by placing an overwhelming margin of 21-7 and 21-11.
This title match was staged in Udupi, India and the victorious shuttler wrapped the show by taking just 22 minutes on court.
Daniel, who enthralled hot favourite Sankeerth B R in semi-finals, continued his successful run and proved his guts against the compatriot shuttler.
On the other hand, Akashraj failed to carry his recent form in the crucial match and crashed out in a disgraceful manner.
The opening segment of the tussle proved a one-sided affair as Daniel did not give his rival even a single opportunity to bounce back.
He played impeccable badminton and wrapped this segment with a huge lead of 14 points in concluding result.
He started the ball rolling by grabbing five consecutive points straight away in the beginning and then transformed this 5-0 total into an indomitable figure before mid-game break.
Meanwhile, Akashraj tried hard to match his challenger’s skills and snatched three points in a row but this short campaign did not create any difference.
Daniel managed to finish the first half as leading contender by entering 11-3 margin and carried this momentum also in later part of the game.
He mounted pressure with 15-5 score on the board and then magnified the impact with a staggering knock of 21-7.
However, it was not a smooth ride in second set of the match as the opposing shuttler put up some decent resistance and kept him busy for significant period of time.
Though, Akashraj was a bit confused in the opening rallies but he did not take much time to come out of his rival’s influence.
He earned four points without any interruption and placed 6-3 figure but next couple of rallies changed the scenario.
The inexperienced but talented Daniel advanced at steady pace and reached at 11-7 before interval.
He did not show mercy after the break and blew his competitor away with scoreboard flashing 21-11 total in his favour.
