Daniel Font beats Adam Khan to claim Men’s Singles crown at Uppsala Junior International 2012
Daniel Font, an emerging shuttler from Wales, showed his brilliance and claimed Men’s Singles crown after defeating Sweden’s Adam Khan in the title match of Uppsala Junior International 2012 in Sweden, on Sunday, March 25.
Daniel, who was top seed in Men’s Singles draw of Uppsala Junior International, showed his impressive craft as he played with superb precision and outplayed his local opponent without losing a single set.
On the other hand, the second seed Adam could not produce better form in the final contest despite having the support of home fans.
He failed to live up to expectations and lost the match in straight games in just 31 minutes.
Right from the opening rallies of first game, both men put up tremendous show by playing to their maximum speed. They did not miss any chance to dominate the pace of rallies and to create pressure on each other.
Nevertheless, no one could take a comfortable lead until the one-minute interval at the end of first half.
After the break, Daniel started to play net shots which disturbed the flow of his local opponent who could not return the bird in the right areas.
The Welsh remained successful in taking a reasonable lead in the concluding part of first set and bagged it with a three-point margin of 21-18.
In the second set, Adam tried to play attacking badminton in opening points but failed to dominate the pace as his rival was in complete control of the game.
Daniel was fully focused in the fight and he did not execute hasty strokes which helped him to take comfortable lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Adam changed his game plan and became quicker at net but failed to produce good results as his challenger was playing on a different level.
Daniel did not face any considerable resistance from Adam in the concluding half of second set. He played flawless badminton at the ending phase and won the set with an impressive 21-15 score on the board.
Daniel ended this title match in straight sets in just 31 minutes with a striking margin of 21-18 and 21-15.
