Daniel Geale faces his biggest challenge in the shape of Osumanu Adama – Boxing news
The Derwent Entertainment Centre situated at Hobart, Tasmania in Australia will witness the current International Boxing Federation (IBF) middleweight champion Daniel Geale defend his title against a contender who is number one in his homeland Ghana that
is Osumanu Adama, the current IBO international middleweight champion.
The bout which will bring these two superb middleweights in the squared ring is scheduled to take place on March 7, 2012. Both men secure a respectable place in their respective division and are feared by most as the most talented and fierce middleweight
pugilists.
Daniel Geale, 30, has thrown himself in a total 27 bouts and has lost only one bout to Anthony Mundine. Geale, nicknamed as the Real Deal, hails from Australia and by his impressive pugilism has secured the number two position in the world middleweight rankings
lying just after the legendary Sergio Martinez. Daniel kicked off his career in 2004 and since then has captured various titles and wore numerous belts round his waist.
Daniel grasped his middleweight title in 2011 after nailing the German Sebastian Sylvester and by securing a split decision in his favour. The 2002 commonwealth games gold medallist secures a knockout ratio of 55.56 percent. Apart from that, the orthodox
pugilist has a wide experience of taking on heavy duty opponents and is on a winning streak by securing 5 wins in continuity.
The Aussie though is confident that he can easily pin the African Osumanu Adama but he also acclaims the fact that his current opponent is the toughest that he has ever met. Adama, widely known as Ozzie Adams has an experience of 22 bouts. He has won 20
of them and has lost two. His 20 wins consist of 15 by knockout which gives him a huge upper hand over the Aussie pugilist.
It is the Adama’s knock out ratio and efficiency that is making the 30-year-old Aussie native wary and concerned. Osumanu is currently the world number 11 middleweight fighter and he trusts in his punches wildly. He is hard to be knocked out even his two
losses were based on a unanimous point allocation decision. A hardcore fighter who is also the current IBO middleweight champion is definitely a stern opponent to take on.
Daniel while commenting on his challenger’s capability said, “It’s going to be my toughest fight to date. This guy is strong. He comes to fight like most of the Africans. I definitely believe Adama will think he can just walk through me and be able to knock
me out. That’s definitely not going to happen. My hand is 100 percent, my body is physically at my best for this next fight.”
The bout between two iconic and top middleweights is being anxiously awaited by everyone since many aspects are at stake in this epic clash. Daniel’s streak as well as title is on the line and on the other hand, Adama has come across his life’s golden chance
to become the unified IBO and IBF middleweight title owner.
