Daniel Guda defeats Stuart Rowlands in Men’s Singles encounter at Ede Clendinnen Shield Sydney
Australia’s Daniel Guda, a representative of NSW Lightning, played to his maximum potential and emerged as the winner against Stuart Rowlands of South Australia at the 2012 Ede Clendinnen Shield Sydney in Australia, on Tuesday, August 28.
Daniel has been putting up gutsy performance in all of his matches in the championship and also remained successful in beating Stuart in a hard-fought battle that took top class badminton from both contestants.
The in-form Daniel failed to find a good rhythm in the opening set and lost it. Nevertheless, he made a strong comeback and easily ended up the remaining both games with a reasonable margin and won the match by taking 45 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, Stuart also played flawless badminton in opening set and won it in a decent fashion.
However, Stuart could not stretch his winning performance in the following sets and ultimately became a prey to Daniel by losing the following games.
The first set was not favourable for Daniel who failed to get a commanding position on court and remained struggling in all areas. Until the one-minute break, he was trailing behind on score board.
After the mid-game interval, Daniel changed his strategy on court as he played fast badminton but failed to create gaps in his opponent’s court and lost the game with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the second set, both shuttlers locked horns again and played with impressive speed and perfection and they could not get a reasonable lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Daniel controlled the affairs of the game and started to build lead while playing positive and aggressive game. He was in commanding position in the ending points and won the set with a margin of 21-17.
In the deciding set, Daniel played with aggression in opening half and managed to set up a reasonable lead until end of opening half.
After the break, Daniel remained on track as he continued his roller-coaster run on court and remained successful in winning the set with a 21-16 margin on the board.
The in-form Daniel defeated Stuart in a hard-fought three-set competition in 45 minutes with a thrilling margin of 17-21, 21-17 and 21-16.
