Daniel Gyurta occupies Men’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day four – European LC Championships
Daniel Gyurta of Hungary occupied gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke on day four of the continued European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Thursday, May 24.
Gyurta lived up to the expectations of his supporters as he sustained his fastest qualification spot of the event by occupying gold medal of the event.
He demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the 200m discipline and reached the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.60 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Marco Koch of Germany, who stayed just 0.66 seconds apart and earned his way to the victory stand for silver medal by producing a nice time of 2 minutes and 09.26 seconds.
Similarly, third spot of the race was obtained by Panagiotis Samilidis of Greece, who stayed nearly half second slower from outsmarting his former finisher and touched the wall with a wonderful timing of 2 minutes and 09.72 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Christian Vom Lehn of Germany, who remained nearly one second behind and emerged on the finishing wall for fourth position by touching the wall with a stupendous effort of 2 minutes and 10.61 seconds.
In the meantime, Jenny Mensing of Germany dominated the playoff of Women’s 100m backstroke. Mensing dictated terms to her opponents throughout the double lap event and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 00.08 seconds.
The champion was followed by Arianna Barbieri of Italy, who stayed 0.46 seconds slower from overpowering the gold medallist and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 00.54 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Simona Baumrtova of Czech Republic, who was only 0.03 seconds slower and posted a time of 1 minute and 00.57 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Daryna Zevina of Ukraine, who remained just 0.02 seconds apart and hit the finishing end by submitting a time of 1 minute and 00.59 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were invited on the medal rostrum for their remarkable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship after the session.
