Daniel Hudson return boosts Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been trying to ease their odds for the upcoming 2011 season and much to their luck’s credit, the situation for them is getting better.
Pitcher Daniel Hudson is looking healthy now and has been given permission to take part in the spring training of the new season.
The pitcher had suffered a strain on his tendon in his right middle finger in 2010 and that subsequently led to his departure from the game. Hudson consulted a hand specialist, Don Sheridan and he gave him permission to return to the game recently.
“I was definitely nervous, but after the first couple of tosses when I let it go a little bit and it felt good and I said, 'Alright, we're good to go,” Hudson said.
Sheridan has given Hudson the permission to start practicing now as his recent physical exam determined that his finger looked great. Hudson was able to talk on the matter and he said the confirmation from his hand specialist came on Sunday.
“It was a freak thing and there's not much you can do to strengthen that stuff up,” Hudson said referring to his previously injured tendon. “There's not much you can do to prevent it. Hopefully I don't have a little flare up, but it should be fine. I've
thrown a few bullpens and it felt great, which really put my mind at ease because I was a little nervous.”
Hudson has been a leading component of Arizona’s rotation line-up as the pitcher proved his mettle in 2010. Last season saw him win 7 games and lose 1, after being acquired from the Chicago White Sox in the 2010 trade window although his earning runs average
was low at 1.69 in 11 starts for the D-Backs.
