Daniel Lester clinches Men’s 200m IM final: Day four – 2011 USA Swimming Sectional, Iowa City
Daniel Lester of Badger Aquatics excelled his performance in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day four of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectional in Iowa City, on Sunday, July 24.
Lester demonstrated his praiseworthy efforts and proved his eligibility for the gold crown, by submitting a winning time of 2 minutes and 04.90 seconds. His time was considerably under the Federation Internationale de Natation’s (FINA) Olympic Trials qualification
standard of 2 minutes and 06.59 seconds.
He was followed by Peoria Area Water’s Matthew Elliott, who stayed just 0.12 seconds behind the gold medallist and posted a time of 2 minutes and 05.02 seconds for second position. Lester’s team-member, 20-year-old Michael Weiss, emerged on the podium for
the bronze medal, as he was 2.62 seconds behind Elliott and completed his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 07.64 seconds.
Sean F Mulroy of Academy Bullets was the fourth best swimmer of the four-lap swim, as he was only 0.43 seconds behind Weiss and reported on the finishing wall with a time of 2 minutes and 08.47 seconds. Kendrick Bachman of Rochester Swim Club occupied fifth
finest spot of the swim, by posting a time of 2 minutes and 09.45 seconds. Donald Warren of Club Hawkeye-IA surfaced as the sixth position holder of the event, as the 20-year-old Warren completed his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 09.58 seconds.
Warren edged out his following swimmer and his team-member, Tyler E Lentz, with a difference of only 0.02 seconds. Lentz, who failed to overcome Warren’s effort reported on the finishing wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 09.60 seconds. He was followed
by his team-mate, Kyle D Noser, who finished eighth after he ended his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 10.72 seconds.
Furthermore, the crowd appreciated the impressive swims of all participants who tried their level best to escape each other for a podium finish, while the winners received medals and accolades for their tremendous efforts in the 200m event.
