Daniel Munoz-De La Nava bids farewell to Arnau Brugues-Davi in round one – Madrid Challenger 2012 CH
Left-hander, Daniel Munoz-De La Nava, successfully managed to battle past his compatriot, Arnau Brugues-Davi into the second round of the Madrid Challenger held at the courts of Spain. He jolted down his 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in approximately
two hours and 35 minutes.
The world number 201, Davi, won the first serve in the opener and preserved the pressure on his rival and bagged away majority of the game without any hindrance. Both players gave each other tough competition, levelling the score
line after every alternate game. Towards the end, Davi just cruised along and did not lose his lead the entire time, clinching a 6-4 lead in the initial set.
The right-hander, Davi, manifested 50 percent initial serve accuracy, converting 11 of 13 first and nine of 13 second delivery points. His rival had a 42 percent initial serve presentation with seven of 10 first and nine of 14
second serve points.
The 30-year-old, Nava, tried his best to turn around the winning order and held his initial serve, pocketing away the every chance to release the pressure of the situation. It was a competitive set for Davi, who strived hard to
keep up with the transcending standards of his rival. Although, the score line evened out after every other game, Nava swirled the momentum in every alternate game and recovered his 6-4 lead.
In the decider, the Spanish veteran sustained his former momentum and broke his challenger’s first serve. He snatched the first two games and marked a 2-love lead since the start. The Spanish veteran nudged forward to terminate
the match with his 6-4 win.
The 27-year-old, Davi double faulted twice at the critical momentums in the closing set with a 60 percent initial serve. He grabbed away 17 of 26 first and eight of 17 second serve points. Nava fired three aces with 70 percent
initial serve. He secured 15 of 23 first and eight of 10 second serve point, just capitalized on one of three points.
For the second round Nava will battle against the fourth seeded, Daniel Gimeno-Traver. The local challenger battled past Jaroslav Pospisil in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
