Daniel Orzechowski clinches Men’s 50m backstroke gold: Day one – Maria Lenk Trophy
Daniel Orzechowski of ECP/SABESP clinched gold medal of the Men’s 50m backstroke on foremost day of the 2012 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Tuesday, April 24.
Orzechowski remained considerably ahead of his competitors in the single-lap backstroke event. With his utter determination and forceful efforts, he outsmarted his challengers in the single lap event and reached the victory stand for gold medal.
He faced tough competition from his strongest challenger, Guilherme Augusto Guido, but earned a lead of half body length in the second half of the race. With his impeccable efforts, he sprinted his way towards the finishing end for gold medal by posting
a time of 24.44 seconds.
On the other hand, Guido remained 0.38 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing end for second position by clocking an effort of 24.82 seconds.
The third spot of the race was secured by Eugene Daisuhe Godsoe of CRF/RJ, who remained nearly two seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and hit the finishing end with the timing of 25.01 seconds.
Godsoe was trailed by Fabio Arikawa Santi of ECP/SABESP, who failed to secure any spot on the victory stand and submitted a time of 25.87 seconds for fourth of the event.
His scintillating effort remained just 0.09 seconds faster over his following challenger, Leonardo Guedes of SC NATACAO, who settled on the finishing blockade as fifth fastest swimmer by touching the wall with the timing of 25.96 seconds.
Subsequently, sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Thiago Magevski Sickert of CRF’RJ, who remained 0.23 seconds behind Guedes and emerged on the wall with an effort of 26.19 seconds.
Sickert was trailed by Vinicius Kleinert of ITAMIRIM, who suffered a deficit of 0.09 seconds from his former finisher and reported a time of 26.28 seconds for seventh position.
Kleinert was followed by Leonardo Sumida of APADAFI/AQUAFOZ, who secured eighth position of the event by clocking a time of 26.38 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were awarded medals and accolades for their notable efforts in the single lap discipline while the session ended after the event.
