Daniel Orzechowski excels in Men’s 50m backstroke semi-final – Jose Finkel Trophy
Daniel Orzechowski of ECP/SABESP excelled in the semi-final of Men’s 50m backstroke on day three of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, August 22.
Orzechowski experienced strong resistance from Guilherme Augusto Guido of ECP/SABESP throughout the shortest backstroke event but with his stupendous efforts, he managed to qualify for the final as strongest swimmer for gold medal.
With his unmatchable pace, Orzechowski gained a lead of one stroke over his following swimmer and rushed his way towards the finishing wall for first position with the timing of 23.67 seconds.
His dazzling sprint placed him 0.26 seconds ahead of Guido, who made his way into the final round as second best finisher by producing a time of 23.93 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Fabio Arikawa Santi of ECP/SABESP, who stayed just 0.38 seconds away from overpowering his former finisher and finished his swim in third best place by producing a time of 24.31 seconds.
Fourth finest qualification spot of the event was secured by Jander Mello Lazaroni of AESJ, who stayed 0.24 seconds slower and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 24.55 seconds.
Lazaroni was followed by Ricardo Machado Oliveira of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who suffered a loss of 0.27 seconds from her former finisher and tapped the wall as fifth best finisher with an effort of 24.82 seconds.
Sixth best qualifying position was secured by Nelson Silva Junior of SERC SAO CAETANO, who was only 0.02 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and concluded his swim in a time of 24.84 seconds.
Similarly, Silva Junior enjoyed a benefit of only 0.03 seconds over his subsequent rival, Vinicius Kleinert of ITAMIRIM, who secured seventh finest spot of the race and entered the final round with an effort of 24.87 seconds.
Eighth qualifying position of the discipline was secured by Thiago Magevski Sickert of CRF/RJ, who stayed only 0.30 seconds slower and posted a time of 25.17 seconds to qualify for the playoff.
Furthermore, Orzechowski was hopeful that he would be able to dominate the final round and secure gold medal of the discipline.
