Daniel Orzechowski wins Men’s 100m back-stroke semi-finals: Day five - 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy
Daniel Orzechowski won the semi-finals of Men’s 100m back-stroke category on the fifth day of the 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy on September 3, taking place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The 26-year-old Orzechowski demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the semi-finals to acquire the top qualification spot in the final rounds. He completed his two-lap swim in a wonderful time of 56.39 seconds to earn top qualification spot of the swim.
He was trailed by Leonardo Guedes of NN SESI CPR/PE, who remained in a lead of just 0.11 seconds over the top position holder and entered the final as the second fastest swimmer by submitting a wonderful time of 56.50 seconds.
With his magnificent timing, Guedes edged out his closest competitors, Leonardo De Deus of CRF/RJ and Gabriel Vasconcellos Mangabeira of ECP/SABESP, with a difference of only 0.04 seconds. De Dues and Mangabeira emerged as the third fastest swimmers to enter
the final round, as they failed to succeed each other on the finishing wall and reported a time of 56.54 seconds for third best qualification.
The top contenders for the podium finish were trailed by Fernando Ernesto Pires Do of CORINTHIANS/S.BERNAR, who was just 0.10 seconds slower than the duo of third best finishers and ended his swim in a fifth best time of 56.64 seconds. Pires Do was followed
by Fabio Arikawa Santi of ECP/SABESP, who was just 0.26 seconds slower than him and entered the final round with a sixth fastest timing of 56.90 seconds.
He was chased by Santi’s team-member, Guilherme Augusto Guido, who remained just 0.02 seconds slower on the finishing wall and posted a seventh best qualification time of 56.92 seconds. Leonardo Alves Santos Fim was the last swimmer of the event to make
his way into the final, as he earned eighth best spot of the swim with an effort of 56.93 seconds.
Furthermore, these participants will be provided with a chance to compete with each other once again in the final round, where the top-three finishers will receive medals for their acknowledging swims.
