Daniel Ponce De Leon: My next target is either Juan Carlos Burgos or Johnny Gonzalez – Boxing news
Daniel Ponce De Leon, the current WBC Latino featherweight and owner of WBC USNBC featherweight gold is aggressive nowadays and wants to make a huge comeback by taking on either Juan Carlos Burgos, the current WBC silver featherweight title or Johnny Gonzalez,
the WBC featherweight champion incumbent in order to grasp any one of the titles.
Daniel made these comments while sharing his future plans to one of the most reputable and prestigious boxing media. Leon, 31, is a southpaw and has entered the squared ring a total 46 times. He is one of those prolific names in boxing who have lost least
number of brawls and maintain an impressive rather intimidating knock out percentage.
Leon is currently Mexico’s number four featherweight and his eyes on any one of the two top ranked brawlers in his own division and in the super featherweight division is normal. Ponce has also been the proud owner of WBO and IBA Super bantamweight and NABF
featherweight gold.
El León, the Mexican’s nick name, has nailed a total 42 pugilists. He collected 35 of his wins by knocking off his opponent’s cold hence securing a knockout percentage of 76.09%. In 2011 the champion cadre brawler was not able to collect a win and experienced
a somewhat depressed year.
But this aspect did not demoralised the El Nino at all and he punched off his 2012 year by emphatically nailing Omar Estrella in the sixth round and grabbing the vacant WBC USNBC featherweight title.
In his brief ring side interview Ponce while recalling his last years encounters said, “Last year I moved in weight to 130, I accepted that fight with Broner because I knew we could beat him unfortunately that was not the outcome. I know and many others
know I won that fight.”
Sharing his experience with Gamboa, De Leon remarked, “Against Gamboa the fight was good and we were exchanging well until we clashed heads in round eight and the fight was stopped. Once again I came up short on the cards.”
De Leon said that he now has complete focus on clashing against any of the two men so as to start his rightful reign over either featherweight or super featherweight division since he has now reached that particular level at which he needs to make statement
by leading the division.
