Daniel Ricciardo: Silverstone Grand Prix will be a very special moment – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo is delighted to make his Formula 1 debut with Hispania Racing Team at the upcoming British Grand Prix.
Ricciardo added that it will be a very special moment for him at Silverstone, as he will race for the first time in Formula 1 sport.
Recently, HRT confirmed that Ricciardo will race for them in place of Narain Karthikeyan in the remainder of 2011 Formula 1 season, however Narain will take part for the team in the Indian Grand Prix.
The Australian driver admitted that he is delighted as HRT gave him a chance of racing in the ongoing season.
He added, “Hopefully it won’t take me too long to adapt to the car, in the past I think I’ve adapted well to new environments and cars so I’m confident that by the end of the weekend I will have made strong progress from the start.”
He also mentioned about the Silverstone event that his aim is to finish the race successfully on the grid. In addition, he said that he will try his best to have successful races with the team and give better results for them in the rest of the season.
Apart from that, he discussed his career history and said, “I had probably my best ever race on this circuit back in June 2008. I was racing Formula Renault Eurocup and I won the race on the last lap with a few corners to go. We were far from the quickest
all weekend but pulled something out of the bag in the last race and it was a big underdog performance.”
The 22-year-old driver also discussed HRT’s performance in the season. He admitted that the team has improved this year as compared to its debut 2010 season. He told the media that he met with the team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi many times, so he believes
Liuzzi is well-experienced in Formula 1 sport.
Ricciardo is hoping for a successful race at the Silverstone circuit. Let’s see how he manages his first race in Formula 1 over there.
