Daniel Ricciardo admits race seat at Red Bull Racing team unlikely – Formula 1 news
According to some recent reports, Daniel Ricciardo is being linked with Red Bull Racing team for a possible race seat.
However, the young Australian driver claims that his chances of joining a championship winning team after a driver like Mark Webber’s retirement are quite unlikely.
“Before I get to that point, I have to prove that I deserve it. So first of all I need to get to the level of Tonio Liuzzi (HRT F1 team-mate). That is a realistic goal. It would be great to sit in a Red Bull, but I think that's unlikely. It would be nice
to have a place in a Formula One team, where, I don't really care,” said Ricciardo.
Ricciardo is currently a rookie as he has competed in just 3 races and since he is driving for a team like Hispania Racing Team, evaluating his performance at the moment is not possible.
He has not been able to finish ahead of his teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi up until now and it is quite clear that he still has to work really hard on his performance in order to prove himself.
With competitors like Lewis Hamilton and the Toro Rosso drivers for a future Red Bull Racing Team seat, Ricciardo is currently in no position of joining RBR but still, Helmut Marko, the team’s motorsport advisor claims that he is on their list.
Mark Webber on the other hand has claimed that he is not willing to retire from the sport until or unless he does not have a competitive car with a competitive team. Since he is still performing really well and is scoring really good results, it seems that
his chances of leaving the team in the near future are quite low.
HRT on the other hand are a back running team in Formula 1 and they have not even secured a single point since their debut back in 2010. The team is improving its performance though and in order to get a seat at RBR, Ricciardo would have to score some extraordinary
results which is not likely anytime soon.
