Daniel Ricciardo believes he can secure a podium finish in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he can secure a podium finish for his team in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Ricciardo performed quite convincingly in 2012 and managed to secure 18th place in the drivers’ standings with 10 points. Moreover, he remained ahead of Vitaly Petrov of Caterham and behind his teammate, Jean-Eric Vergne who scored 16 points.
The Aussie has said that his target is to come up stronger in the next season so as to attain better results as compared to this year.
“I'm aware of that, and I know that my targets in 2013 will have to be more ambitious,” he told Autosprint.
Furthermore, he said that he has got the potential to secure a podium in the coming year. In addition, he said that he is looking forward to deliver his best in the next season in order to make his position stronger as a race driver.
“I won't hide and I say that I must and can obtain a podium. I will push to the maximum to make it,” he said.
Besides, he said that he lacked aggressiveness during this season because of which he could not be able to attain good results in quite a few races. He also said that he considers himself complete opposite of Romain Grosjean of Lotus who caused many accidents
because of his harsh driving style.
Nevertheless, he said that he is targeting to perform well in the coming year with a well balanced approach in his driving.
“My Achilles heel is that this year, in the first part of the season, I wasn’t aggressive enough in the races. In some aspects I was the opposite of [Romain] Grosjean. Now, however, I think I've found the right balance in showing my capabilities,” he added.
In 2013, the competition is going to be very tough as all the contenders are making significant preparations to improve the pace of their cars. Let’s see how the Australian driver performs in the next season and whether he will be able to achieve his target
