Daniel Ricciardo feels encouraged for 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo has expressed that he is feeling very much encouraged for 2012 Monaco Grand Prix after seeing the victory of Williams’ Pastor Maldonado in the Spanish GP.
The Australian driver has only been able to score 2 points in the season so far and is presently standing on 16th position in the drivers’ championship. In the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia, he secured 9th place finish after starting
the race from 10th grid position.
Afterwards, in the next four races he could be able to score not even a single point. Nevertheless, he said that he is positively looking forward to improve his performance in the next race at Circuit de Monaco after the Venezuelan driver took his maiden
victory in Barcelona.
“For me, 2010 was the best. It was my first year in Monaco and I won in Formula Renault 3.5. Then a couple of hours later Mark won the grand prix, so it was like the perfect Aussie weekend. I have great memories of that; it was a lot of fun. So I'm hoping
for a bit of a repeat next week. I think Pastor pulled off a bit of a miracle in Barcelona and I'm hoping to do something like that in Monaco,” he said.
In addition, he said that it is quite impossible to make projections about the forthcoming race as there have been five different winners who ran on completely different setups of cars in the first five races of the season.
He added, “Pastor's win in Barcelona is the perfect example of that unpredictability.”
Besides, he said that according to him Force India are their closest rivals as Williams and Sauber-Ferrari have incredibly improved their rankings.
On the other hand, his teammate, Jean-Eric Vergne is at 14th place in the drivers’ standings with 4 points. Moreover, he is just one point ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and 10 points behind Bruno Senna of Williams.
Toro Rosso are currently at 9th place in the constructors’ championship with only 6 points. Nonetheless, they have been trying their best to make the substantial preparations and the essential developments so as to improve the pace of their car for the upcoming
races.
