Daniel Ricciardo looking forward to driving at Suzuka for the first time – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he is looking forward to driving at Suzuka circuit on October 9, 2011 in Japan.
Ricciardo added that he is very excited about the Japanese Grand Prix, as he will race at the Suzuka circuit for the first time in his career.
The Australian driver talked to the media and stated that he has heard from other drivers about the Suzuka circuit that the circuit is quite beautiful with a lot of history.
The Spanish squad driver also mentioned that he has not yet visited Suzuka, but spent a lot of time in the simulator.
Talking to reporters, Ricciardo commented, “I’ve heard from many of the drivers that it is a beautiful circuit with a lot of history. I spent some time in the simulator and the first sector looks like a lot of fun, with The Esses followed by an uphill (section)
which, apparently, is a lot steeper than what you can appreciate on television.”
He added, “It seems like a real driver’s circuit, which is always nice - a place where you can try and get the most out of the car. I'm really excited because reality is always better. The weekend in Singapore was positive, the progression has been good
in every race and I hope that this trend will continue in Japan.”
The 22-year-old driver started racing for the Hispania Racing Team since the 2011 British Grand Prix. The team confirmed him in place of Narain Karthikeyan after the European race weekend with hopes of getting better results from the rest of the 2011 Formula
1 season.
Ricciardo is still not able to put his team in form since his first race for them in the season so far.
In the recently held Singapore Grand Prix, Ricciardo started his race from the back of the field and after struggling with his F111 car, he came at the 19th position in the final race classifications.
