Daniel Ricciardo not upset over missing racing seat in Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he is not feeling upset over missing a race seat in Red Bull Racing for the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Ricciardo has been seen as a potential replacement of Mark Webber for the next season whose contract was going to expire at the end of this year. However, Webber has recently signed a new contract with his current team after the British Grand Prix in which
he took an incredible victory.
On the other hands, the hopes of Ricciardo to graduate to Red Bull in the next year have been shunned. Nevertheless, he is not feeling disappointed and is looking forward to perform well so as to be able to secure a race seat in the Milton Keynes based team.
“Not in a negative way, but I never thought it would happen, at least for next season,” Ricciardo told the West Australian newspaper. “I knew there was a lot to be done. But I had 20 races to get through this year and to prove that I could be something extraordinary
to take that seat.”
In addition, he said that he has worked really hard to improve his performance in the first half of the season and if he continues to deliver his best in the season ahead in order to make further developments.
“I don’t think they’re searching for someone to replace me yet, unless the season goes pretty poorly from here,” he said. “But if I continue what I’m doing or even improve a bit – that would be nice – I estimate I would stay here.”
At present, he is standing at 18th position in the drivers’ championship with 2 points. Additionally, he is behind his teammate, Jean-Eric Vergne and is ahead of Caterham pair of drivers, Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov.
He has only been able to score points in the season opener in which he secured 9th place finish after setting off from 10th grid position. Over and above, let’s see how he makes progress in the remaining nine races of the current season
after the ongoing mid-season break.
