Daniel Ricciardo says there is no room for mistake in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso has said that there is no room to make any kind of mistake in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Monaco in Spain on May 27.
Ricciardo expressed that he is looking forward to perform well in the next race while he said that he has a special liking for the track in Monte Carlo as he loves street circuits.
“That's Spain done and dusted and now we can look forward to Monaco, which is obviously a very special place,” he said. “I really enjoy racing there, as I really love street circuits. I've only ever driven proper street tracks at Macau and Monaco but I loved
them from the first moment I drove them. To race on those bumpy, slippery roads with the walls being so close is fantastic. There's so much going on for a driver to contend with. There's no room for error.”
At present, the Australian driver is standing at 16th position in the drivers’ championship. Moreover, he has only been able to score 2 points in the season so far with his ninth place finish in the first race at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
On the other hand, his teammate, Jean-Eric Vergne has performed slightly better as he is at 14th place in the drivers’ rankings with 4 points.
Nevertheless, Ricciardo has said that he is feeling encouraged for the forthcoming race after seeing the performance of the Venezuelan driver, Pastor Maldonado of William who took his maiden victory in the Spanish GP after starting the race from the pole
position.
Furthermore, he said that it is very difficult to make predictions about the races ahead as there have been five different contenders who have won the first five races with entirely different cars’ setups. Besides, he thinks that this unpredictability will
prevail throughout the season.
Nonetheless, he said that they have been trying to make the essential advancements and the necessary preparations for the approaching races in order to enhance the pace of their car so as to secure a competitive position in this season’s championship fight.
