Toro Rosso, the junior team owned by Red Bull Beverages, is yet to give the final verdict on its driver’s line-up for the 2011 Formula One season. The team has already revealed its intentions of continuing with its old drivers,
Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, however, the final decision has yet to come.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was followed by a two days driving test at the Yas Marina Circuit last week. At the same time while several other drivers did very well, the young driver, Daniel Ricciardo was able to get everyone’s attention.
The Australian driver was one of the strongest performers during the sessions and was able to impress the entire Red Bull crew with the way he took the RB6 across the circuit. With his brilliant driving display he has once again stirred speculations for the
driver’s line up of Toro Rosso for next season.
So far nothing definite has been announced for Ricciardo by the team or his manager. The driver as well as his boss Dr. Helmut Marko proclaimed that they are still hopeful to get a place in Formula One this season although nothing
can be said for certain.
While talking to the media earlier today Marko said, "We pushed Bernoldi, Klien, Liuzzi and Speed without a breakthrough. Daniel Ricciardo is the next top talent. A new Vettel? I don't know."
Earlier this season many of the team’s officials expressed good hopes for the drive who was the reserve driver for the 2010 season. Moreover, he has also been successful in bagging second place in the Renault World Series.
The Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost expressed earlier this year that he hopes to give a better place to the Australian driver in the team so that he could prove himself in a better way. Moreover, Tost has also hinted at some of
the discussions earlier this week that he is not very contented with the performance of Buemi. He told the press that the 22-year-old has had enough time to prove his potential and secure his place in Formula One, but he has not been able to utilise the time
in the best possible manner.
On the other hand, Tost seemed more satisfied with the way Alguersuari has performed all through the season. He explained saying, "At the beginning of the season he scored points and had a really good level of performance. But
at the end of the season he struggled a bit. Step by step he is coming on the correct path".
He concluded saying that at the present moment all the attention is fixed for making a successful 2011 car, and the drivers’ line up would be revealed shortly.
