http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 revealed he believed the Blues were still in the title race despite drawing their last fixture against Wigan Athletic and slipping to fourth place on the Premier League table.
It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-c19110 Gomez who scored the late equalizer for his side, earning them a much needed point while the Blues lost two crucial points in the unexpected draw. They now sit at fourth place, nine points behind Manchester City, seven behind Manchester United
and two behind Tottenham Hotspur who happen to have a game in hand.
However, Sturridge was confident his side were still title contenders and could very well go on to challenge the in-form Manchester sides later on in the season. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 also had a shot at the title.
He said while speaking to reporters:
“It is frustrating for everyone and it is important that we bounce back, which we will.
We have done that in the last few weeks when we have had difficult games and we have stepped up, and we will step up in the next game and continue to fight for the Premier League.”
According to Sturridge, the English Premier League was one of the best football leagues in the world and any team in the top six at this point in the season could go on to claim the title. With the Blues at fourth place, Sturridge was certain the London
side could go on to win the Premier League crown.
He continued:
“There are still five months to go and I think people would be stupid to assume Chelsea are out of the title race. We are going to fight to the very last game.”
While the 22-year-old is currently the top scorer for the Blues so far with nine goals in 18 fixtures in all competitions, he did not think he was singlehandedly responsible for their success. He insisted it was a team effort and they would eventually succeed.
Sturridge revealed:
“I thought we would win the game but we were unlucky, and I am certainly going to be working as hard as I can to make sure we win every game.”
