Daniel Sturridge focused on Chelsea, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 hoping to see Blues teammate in England squad
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076, the 22-year-old Chelsea striker revealed he was not stressed out about having failed to receive a call-up from the England national team. Despite terrific performances for the Blues, Sturridge seems to have been unable to impress England
manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, who has so far not felt the need to use the striker for the 2012 qualifiers.
However, with Manchester United forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015, Sturridge could very well be called up. The Italian manager is now without one less dependable striking option and could turn
to the Chelsea striker, who has been in top form since his loan move to Bolton Wanderers for the latter half of the last season.
The player himself was not too concerned with the England national team and instead claimed he was looking forward to cementing his place within the London side. With intense competition within the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 squad, Sturridge is aware he has to remain at the
top of his game if he wishes to retain his place in the starting XI.
Sturridge said in an interview:
“If http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 comes and I play for England then great. But I am not really worried about playing for England - it is not something I am really stressing about.
My main focus is to play for Chelsea every week and if I can do that then I am happy.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 are all players Sturridge has to do better than to earn a spot in manager Andre Villas-Boas’ team. So far he has managed just fine and is now focusing to retain his place in
the team so he can start playing regular football with the Blues.
He continued:
“It has been a long time I have been playing at Chelsea now and I have not been playing regularly so for me the most important thing is to be playing regularly.”
Fellow countryman and Chelsea teammate Ashley Cole was full of praise for the young English striker. The 30-year-old left-back revealed how important Sturridge could prove to be for England’s dream of performing well in the 2012 Euro. According to Cole,
Sturridge was one of the most difficult players to mark in training due to the striker’s pace and strength.
Cole revealed:
“He should have been in the last England squad and, if he keeps doing what he is doing, he will be in the squad for Euro 2012, no problem at all.”
