http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 has made it clear that he is interested in leading the line for Chelsea in the next league season especially after Didier Drogba’s departure from the club for the Chinese football league.
Drogba was the central man for Chelsea during his time with the Blues as more often than not; he played as the battering ram up front. Since his departure, Chelsea are now short of that option but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo is reforming
the squad and the Chelsea style of play as well. The Blues are now going to be much more fluid in midfield rather than largely direct as they were with Drogba up front.
Andre Villas Boas, Chelsea’s previous manager did give Sturridge ample opportunities to prove himself but the former Manchester City man failed to take them and make the most out of these chances as he was inconsistent and sometimes
frustratingly selfish with the ball at his feet.
With Roberto Di Matteo calling the shots now, Sturridge wants to move away from his old position on the wings for the London club and perhaps try out as a striker for the European Championships. Di Matteo will most probably give
Sturridge a fair chance to prove himself but things look bleak for the Englishman at the time being because of the arrival of Hazard, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 and Marin at the club.
Sturridge said, “I've been waiting for the opportunity as a striker since I joined Chelsea and hopefully this season will be the one where I can show what I can do there. Hopefully the manager will give me a chance."
He added, "The club has bought very well. It's important that we have players like Hazard who can make something happen out of nothing. It's important that we play together on a regular basis so we gain an understanding. When it's
a player's first season it is difficult to get into the speed of the Premier League game.”
