The Chelsea forward has admitted that he felt a bit hurt after Roy Hodgson did not include his name in the 2012 European Championship squad but now he is willing to work hard next season in order to prove himself in the English Premier League as well as the UEFA Champions League with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786...
As http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, the young forward failed to get a permanent run in the starting line-up.
Roy Hodgson has instead opted to select http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873, a player who in all reality has not done any better than Sturridge in the English Premier League. In his latest comments to the media, Sturridge admitted that he was hurt by his omission, but Hodgson’s decision has forced him to work harder on his game next season in order to make it big on the international scene with the English national team.
Sturridge said, "I feel hurt, but you know, maybe it is a blessing in disguise. It's going to spur me on to do better. It's going to drive me to want more success and to be a better footballer. I'm upset about it, but not too much."
He added, "It's a real disappointment for me, you know, but it won't stop me from wanting to do more or do better next season." The Englishman also shed further light on his endeavours with Chelsea especially in the UEFA Champions League where the Blues won the European Cup for the first time in their history last season by winning the final against Bayern Munich on penalty kicks.
Even though Sturridge was not a part of the team that played that night in Allianz Arena, he did get a medal for his troubles in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, but now it remains to be seen whether or not the former Manchester City star will play a greater role for Chelsea next season if Roberto Di Matteo stays on as their permanent manager.
