Daniel Vettori concerned over Tillakaratne Dilshan’s replacement
Bangalore skipper, Daniel Vettori reckons that it will hard to replace Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan, who participated in his last match of the ongoing Indian Premier League on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
The Lankan player will be returning to his homeland to lead the national team against England.
Reflecting on the lucrative partnership between opening batsmen Chris Gayle and Dilshan, Vettori said that the alliance set the foundation for their last five IPL wins. Vettori expects that a quick decision would be made considering the urgent nature of the matter.
"Yes, Dilshan has played his last game. It's difficult (to find a new opening pair). That partnership (Gayle and Dilshan) which we put together certainly has enabled us to win these last five games. We have got a couple of options and we got to make a decision pretty quickly, “the captain elaborated.
Bangalore sealed a 9-wicket win against the Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore last night.
According to Vettori, Thomas Pomersbach, Rilee Roussouw, and Saurabh Tiwary have the skill to venture onto the field to perform on top of their level.
"When you look at the foreign players there is Thomas Pommersbach and Rilee Rousouw or look at a guy like Saurabh Tiwary to come up the order. He hasn't had much batting, so it might be a good opportunity for him to get some balls under his belt which will be beneficial to us," the captain revealed to the media at the post-match press conference.
