Daniel Vettori deems himself physically fit
The New Zealand veteran, Daniel Vettori has finally declared himself healthy after undergoing different medical tests to identify the causes which led him to feel fatigued in the first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Vettori was seen struggling in the field on the second day of the Hamilton Test and he went off the field for nearly twenty minutes, after which the team manager, Dave Currie, confirmed that the left handed batsman was ill.
However, after the end of the first Test, Vettori, while talking to the press, revealed that he had started feeling better and the illness was gradually fading away. But, the cricketer did mention that his blood tests had failed to show the real cause of
his illness and no diagnosis had been reached regarding his fatigued state.
He said, "I feel a lot better today. All my results have come back clear. I need a couple of days rest but I’ll be right for the second Test at the Basin (Reserve).”
Different rumours had surfaced in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 media which suggested that Vettori had been tested for malaria. New Zealand’s former selector, Dion Nash had said on a local radio channel that Daniel Vettori was tested for malaria, however, this was clearly
denied by the Black Caps' manager, Currie.
When Vettori was asked about the statements suggesting that he may have contracted malaria, the 31-year-old denied that he had been suffering from the disease. He said, "No I am fine. I think I may have caught something in the subcontinent, but sometimes
you don’t even know what those things are. It was a 72-hour thing and I am starting to feel a lot better now."
Vettori’s side was pulverised by Pakistan in Hamilton, where the visitors won the match by 10 wickets on the third day of the match. Vettori failed to score any runs in the first innings while he was adjudged leg-before wicket (LBW) on Abdul Rahman’s delivery
after scoring just 3 runs in the second innings.
