http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 disappointed over missing his ton at Gabba – Cricket News Update
New Zealand’s veteran all-rounder, Daniel Vettori, has expressed serious disappointment over his failure to notch a three-figure-score in the opening Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the Gabba.
Vettori played a majestic knock and helped his side reach a decent first innings total of 295. He came out to bat when the Kiwis were in huge trouble after losing first five wickets for just 96 runs. Yet, the seasoned campaigner joined hands with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349
and hauled New Zealand to reasonable score.
However, he could not score his seventh Test hundred, as he gave away his wicket at an individual score of 96. His classy innings came to an end when Vettori ran for a quick single; however, the fielder at mid-off, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, banged the stumps with
a direct hit, showing him the way back to the dressing room.
It was golden opportunity for Vettori to smash a hundred at the start of the season, and the cricketer himself was frustrated with the way he got out.
"Four more runs and you're always disappointed to get out in that manner but it was more about the batting getting easier and to be dismissed in that manner was pretty disappointing. It took a direct hit, if it wasn't been a direct hit I would have been
in and he's a very good fielder, I picked the wrong guy," said Vettori who has over-4000 Test runs to his credit alongside 353 wickets.
In reply to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s first innings score, The Kangaroos are still trailing by 141 runs with seven wickets in hand. And Vettori believes that Black Caps are in a strong position in the contest, despite conceding the fact that the Kiwi bowling attack
will have to start the proceeding on the third day with a bang and pick up a few wickets in the morning session.
“We do need to back it up with the ball tomorrow and that first session will be the key and not let the game get away from us," shared the former Kiwi skipper who handed over the reins to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 after the World Cup 2011.
