Daniel Vettori not fazed by a couple of defeats – Cricket News Update

Skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Daniel Vettori, is not fazed by a couple of recent defeats in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but wants his team to raise its game.

RCB is considered to be one of the favourites of the tournament because of a star-studded line-up. However, the franchise has been quite inconsistent so far, and stand sixth on the points table with nine points after ten matches. The Bangalore based franchise
needs to get going if it wants to qualify for the play-off stage of the tournament.

The batting line-up of Bangalore is extremely potent in the presence of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, but their bowling has let them down in the current season. RCB has got the services of international stars like Zaheer Khan, Vinay Kumar
and Vettori himself in the bowling department but all of them have failed to restrict the opposing batsmen this season.

Vettori still has a lot of confidence in the abilities of his players but feels that his team needs to deliver the goods in the ground. Bangalore has lost some close encounters and the former Kiwi captain said that the boys need to finish matches.

The left-arm spinner said. “I am not really affected with the losses. The nature of the competition is that any team can perform on any given day. Any player can become a match winner on any day. We also have some match winners in our side. Unfortunately,
we are struggling to cross the finishing line.”

Considering the competitive points table, Bangalore has got to get its act together as the tournament is going into the decisive stages. Vettori fully understands that his team needs to start winning before it gets too late.

“But then we have to learn from our mistakes. We know what we have to do. We’ve got some big games coming up and we need to get back on that roll of winning if we want to make the knockout stage,” the RCB skipper added.
