Daniel Vettori wants to perform for earthquake struck people of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has said that his team would try their level best in the ICC World Cup 2011 to lift the morale of the nation which has been deeply hurt after a horrific earthquake in Christchurch recently.
The Kiwis are set to take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 on Friday in a very important fixture of Group A at Nagpur.
“It has been difficult but we put it in perspective and say it's nothing compared to what people in Christchurch and all over New Zealand are going through. It has affected the whole country, the whole country is hurting immensely and the team feels exactly
the same way,” Kiwi captain said while expressing his grief.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting has also expressed his sympathies with his neighbouring nation.
New Zealand cricket team has gone through its worst period in the recent past as they were defeated by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at home.
However, Vettori feels that his team has the potential to deliver the goods at the highest stage of the game and it is just a matter of getting the act together as a unit.
Vettori added, “We have to look at ourselves in the best possible light. When we do perform we're a very good team. Unfortunately in the past, we haven't been able to live up to those expectations. Every game is a fresh challenge and a chance to do that.
Hopefully we can take the positives from the win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752. We know it's going to be a different challenge, a tougher challenge.”
Playing against Australia itself is a great motivation for the Black Caps but they have found another reason to motivate themselves for Friday’s fixture. The Kiwi players are also extremely upset about the happenings back home but they have a great opportunity
through this World Cup to put smiles back on the faces of the affected people.
The Aussies would definitely start as favourites for Friday’s encounter but the Kiwis have always given the Kangaroos a tough competition. Let’s hope the game lives up to its expectations.
