Daniel Wells participates in Sheffield Half Marathon to collect money for Paul Hunter Foundation
Snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) frequently organise charitable activities to support a couple of charity projects. Recently the association announced a marathon for the charity purpose. The event is basically
a fundraising campaign for the Paul Hunter Foundation where many top guns of snooker will take part to play their part.
The Sheffield Half Marathon is a 13-mile racing adventure which will feature the likes of the former six-time World Snooker Champion Steve Davis, former World Snooker Champion and the current China Open snooker tournament winner Peter Ebdon, the WPBSA Chairman
Jason Ferguson, Michael Holt, Andrew Higginson, Liam Highfield and the former Welsh Number one Daniel Wells.
The charity marathon is being organised by the WPBSA in Sheffield and will commence on Sunday, May 27. The race is titled as the Sheffield Half Marathon and the WPBSA management is aiming for handsome money to donate to the Paul Hunter Foundation. Wells
feels honoured to be a part of such activity.
Wells spoke to the media, “I could have been playing in Q School event three on Sunday! Now I can enjoy the run and hopefully raise some money.”
The Welsh potter just made his way to the professional snooker tour for the next two years after qualifying through the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School). The 23-year-old Welshman showed great determination throughout the Q School Event 2 and
beating four amateur potters during his run, he was able to hit the pro tour.
Speaking to World Snooker, Wells said, “I've never felt emotion like it. It's a different type of pressure to what I have been through. Something clicked and everything started coming back to me. I can look forward to next season now and feel as if I am
playing well again.”
He added, “In the past I have driven myself insane and there was no way I could go on like that. I still want to be a top player, but above all I just want to enjoy the game now.”
Wells is now looking forward to take advantage of this opportunity and make an appearance in the coming snooker seasons.
