Daniela Hantuchova ousts Alla Kudryavtseva in straight sets at Family Circle Cup
Slovakian tennis player Daniela Hantuchova defeated Russian pro Alla Kudryavtseva in her opening match at this year’s 2011 Family Circle Cup, proceeding to the second round of the tournament with a 6-1, 7-6(3) victory over the
Russian pro. Hantuchova took a little over one hour and thirty-two minutes to defeat her opponent.
Daniela Hantuchova is high on the Women’s Tennis Association rankings at World Number 33. She is 27 years old, and has been part of the professional tour since 1999. The Slovakian pro has been playing tennis for almost twelve years,
and has won a total of four WTA career titles so far. One of these titles was won in 2011. The right-handed pro currently resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Alla Kudryavtseva is ranked much lower on the WTA tour at World Number 72. She is 23 years old, and has been part of the professional circuit since February 2005. The player is right-handed, and resides in her hometown Moscow.
Kudryavtseva has won a single WTA career title to date, and has lost three out of ten matches so far this year.
The first set of the match was particularly easy for Hantuchova, who seemed to cruise through without even breaking a sweat. The Slovak pro saved her only break point, and managed to break Kudryavtseva twice in retaliation. In
addition to this, she also took a whopping 63 per cent of the total points in the first set to win it with a bagel. Kudryavtseva seemed to warm up in the second round and gave her opponent a difficult time, breaking her four times. She also reduced her double
faults, committing one less error than her opponent. However, Hantuchova also exacted revenge by scoring one ace and converting all four break points against her opponent. She went on to win four points more than her opponent to win the match in the second
set. The final scoreline was 6-1, 7-6(3).
Tenth seed Daniela Hantuchova will face Evgeniya Rodina of Russia in her second round match at Charleston.
