Daniela Hantuchova ousts Evgeniya Rodina in straight sets at the 2011 Family Circle Cup
Slovakian tennis pro Daniela Hantuchova ousted Evgeniya Rodina of Russia in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 in her second round match at this year’s Family Circle Cup, defeating her opponent with a bagel and a fry. Hantuchova took just a little over one hour and
three minutes to dismiss her opponent Rodina.
Daniela Hantuchova is 27 years old, and stands at World Number 33 on the Women’s Tennis Association rankings. She hails from Poprad in Slovakia, but now resides in Monte Carlo in Monaco. The pro has been a WTA professional player for over ten years, having
joined the pro circuit in May 1999. She is right-handed, and has won a total of four WTA career titles so far. One of these titles was won earlier this year, when she outlasted her competition as the fourth seed at the Pattaya Open in February.
Evgeniya Rodina, on the other side of the court, is currently ranked World Number 76. She is only 22 years old, and lives in Moscow, Russia. She has been part of the pro circuit since 2004, and plays right-handed tennis. The Russian pro has not yet won any
career titles during the course of her career as a WTA pro player.
The match was almost too easy for Hantuchova, who cruised through it without a hint of hesitation. She was playing her best tennis, scoring one ace and avoiding any double faults while her opponent committed two such errors. In addition to this, Hantuchova
kept herself from being broken twice, although she successfully converted five of twelve break points against her opponent. The contest lasted a little over an hour, and Hantuchova managed to close the match by winning a whopping 69 per cent of the total points
played in the match. She proceeded to the second round with a bagel and a fry over Evgeniya Rodina.
Daniela Hantuchova is seeded tenth at this year’s Charleston event, and will face American tennis pro Christina McHale in the third round of the 2011 Family Circle Cup.
