Daniela Victoria grabs Women’s 200m IM gold: Day one – Venezuela Open Championships
Daniela Victoria of SCLN grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) in the 14 and Over category on opening day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 17.
The 23-year-old Victoria dictated terms to her challengers in the IM discipline and earned her way to the top of podium for gold medal.
With her astonishing efforts, she ensured place on the victory stand for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 19.85 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Eliana Barrios of MASBO, who stayed almost six seconds slower and proved her mettle for silver medal of the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 25.83 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Maria L Ramirez of HHISP, who was almost two seconds apart and produced a time of 2 minutes and 27.80 seconds for bronze medal of the discipline.
Fourth spot of the event was secured by Thais Navas of MAPOR, who suffered a deficit of 0.65 seconds from her former finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 28.45 seconds.
The 22-year-old Navas was chased by Vanessa Farra of UCVMI, who stayed 0.14 seconds apart and proved her eligibility for fifth position of the event by posting a time of 2 minutes and 28.59 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was secured by Claudia Travieso of PIBOL, who stayed almost three seconds behind and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 31.90 seconds.
Travieso was traced by Laura Linares of CNTRU, who was only 0.16 seconds slower and ended her swim in seventh place by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 32.06 seconds.
The 18-year-old Linares was followed by Elvismar Revilla of MASBO, who obtained eighth position of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 32.37 seconds.
Victoria was excited with her remarkable efforts in the 200m IM. Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders were invited on the victory stand for awards and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
