Daniela Victoria secures Women’s 200m backstroke gold: Day three – Venezuela Open Championships
Daniela Victoria of SCLN secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke in the 14 and above age class on day three of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 19.
The 23-year-old Victoria smothered all struggles of her challengers in the distant backstroke event by proving her eligibility for gold medal of the discipline.
With her alluring efforts, she stayed full body length ahead of her closest challenger and paved her way to the finishing wall for the crown of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 35.58 seconds.
Her title-claiming effort was followed by Mercedes Toledo of PNUDC, who stayed exactly one second slower from her and reached the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 36.58 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Larismar Arcila of CSIVC, who stayed nearly five seconds apart and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 41.58 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth spot of the discipline was secured by Corina Lavado of PIBOL, who stayed 3.26 seconds slower from the third position holder and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 44.84 seconds.
The 22-year-old Lavado was chased by her teammate, Jakisbel Escalona, who stayed just 0.22 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for fifth position with an effort of 2 minutes and 45.06 seconds.
Escalona was traced by Roanyi Herrera of NSCMI, who stayed nearly four body lengths behind and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 49.42 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Daniela Lanz of BRADC, who was almost four seconds away from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 53.31 seconds.
Similarly, Lanz remained considerably ahead of Arantxa Aranguren of PNUDC, who obtained eighth position of the discipline by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 57.04 seconds.
The session ended after the completion of all listed events while the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
