The Giallorossi midfielder is delighted after extending his stay at Stadio Olimpico Rome, and looking forward to end his career at Rome
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 midfielder, Daniele De Rossi’s, future at Stadio Olimpico Rome was assured when the club announced that the Italian has agreed a five-year extension to his contract.
The Italian’s contract situation was the subject of media attention for the past eight to ten months, and the midfielder was linked with a move to host of top clubs in the summer. The 28-year-old could not agree wages with the
club, as the bosses believed that his demands were too high.
While talking to the reporters, De Rossi said,
“The obstacle was always my wages and we discussed that element a lot. I only asked for one figure from the very first day.”
De Rossi believes that his salary was the only obstacle in agreeing a contract, and he is happy that the matter has been resolved now. The Italian international insisted that at one point he felt that the fans were not treating
him well, and he needs to leave the club. He also went onto talk to a few foreign clubs to know where he stood.
“I’m really happy here, I’ve taken the decision that I have always wanted. At one stage I didn’t feel loved on a professional level. I wasn’t seen as a strong player and I was also responsible for that. I need to stay here if I
am wanted, especially in my home. There was also a moment when I was attracted by the idea of seeing myself on a new stage and playing against the best for the most important trophies.” added the Italian international
De Rossi emerged from the youth system of Stadio Olimpico Rome, and made his first-team debut in a UEFA Champions League game against Anderlecht 2001. He scored a goal on his Serie A debut against Torino in 2003.
The veteran midfielder has made 375 appearances for the capital side, and has gone onto score 46 goals so far. De Rossi is also tipped as a future captain at Stadio Olimpico Rome.
