Danielle Adams leads San Antonio Silver Stars to a 69-66 win over Seattle Storm – WNBA Recap
On Thursday night, Rookie Danielle Adams erupted with a game-high 23 points and six rebounds as San Antonio notched up a 69-66 victory over the Seattle Storm and snapped their three-game losing streak. The 22-year-old forward came
off the bench to score 7 for 13 from the field and 6 of 7 from the charity stripe.
Adam was unstoppable late in the game and dropped 15 points in the fourth quarter to sting Storm in the clutch. Danielle Robinson produced 12 points on the night, including a pair of free throws with 1.6 seconds left in the game.
She also dished out three assists for San Antonio, who have won four of their previous seven games. After the game Robinson said.
"Our team has nothing but confidence in us. So that's a great feeling, to come into the game knowing that the team can depend on us. We come in, and we can be that spark."
Tanisha Wright led Seattle with 18 points, on a 8-of-16 shooting from the floor, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.. Swin Cash ended the game with 13 points, four rebounds and two steals. Sue Bird also had 10 points,
seven assists, four rebounds and two steals for Seattle, who saw their two-game winning streak coming to an end.
Storm had a tough night at the free throw line, making 7 of 16, and shot just 39.7 percent from the field as compared to 41.7 percent by the Silver Stars.
Bird admitted after the game that Seattle did not shoot well, "We did have a rough shooting night, and we still had a chance to win," "I think that speaks to our toughness and our defence. We always give ourselves a chance, and
tonight it just did not work out for us. We were right there; it just didn't work out."
The Silver Stars limited Seattle to 18.8 percent shooting from the floor in the first quarter and carried a seven-point lead, 17-10, into the second.
San Antonio continued to dominate in the second quarter and stretched their lead to 13 points, 27-14. However, Seattle responded with a 9-2 run in the next few minutes to cut their lead to six, 29-23.   Silver Stars scored three
unanswered points in the last minute to maintain a nine-point lead, 32-23, at halftime.
Seattle rallied back in the third quarter and cut the deficit to just two points by the time the frame ended. They finally took a 62-60 lead on a Wright shot with 03:25 to go in the fourth quarter. This was where Adams took over.
She scored back-to-back lay-ups and hit a free throw to put San Antonio ahead by 65-62 with 28 seconds to go. Wright lay-up with two ticks to go made it a one-point contest but Robinson hit a pair of free throw at the buzzer to
seal a close victory.
