Danielle Bach seizes Women’s 50m backstroke gold – YMCA National Championship
Danielle Bach of Wyckoff-NJ seized gold medal of the Women’s 50m backstroke on final day of the 2012 YMCA National Long Course Championship at Georgia Institute of Technology Aquatics Center on Friday, July 27.
The 18-year-old Bach dictated terms to her opponents in the single lap backstroke discipline, as she remained prominent for gold medal from the start.
With her scintillating start, she gained a marginal lead over her rivals and showed her urgency towards the finishing blockade for first position with a wonderful time of 29.93 seconds.
The champion was followed by Maggie Miller of Elkins-WV, who stayed 0.30 seconds apart and proved her audacity for silver medal by hitting the wall with the timing of 30.23 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Marianne Kahmann of Coffman-OH, who was only 0.02 seconds away from upsetting her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for third position with an effort of 30.25 seconds.
Similarly, Kahmann enjoyed an advantage of 0.07 seconds from her following swimmer, Emily Cornell of Upper Main Line-PA, who settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by producing an effort of 30.32 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Madeline Hoch of West Shore-PA, who remained 0.28 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing blockade with an effort of 30.60 seconds.
The 17-year-old Hoch was chased by Courtney Miller of Elkins-WV, who was only 0.14 seconds slower from improving her position and finished sixth in the event with the timing of 30.74 seconds.
Miller was traced by Noelle Klockner of West Monmouth-NJ, who was just 0.10 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 30.84 seconds for seventh position.
Subsequently, Klockner was chased by Alicia Diaz of Kennett-PA, who was also just a touch away from her preceding finisher and secured eighth position of the event by submitting a time of 30.94 seconds.
In addition, Bach was extremely happy with her accomplishment in the shortest backstroke event and stated that she would struggle hard to impress her fans by achieving the same at upcoming swimming events.
