Daniels Baniel seals surprise win in Williamhill.com Stakes at Newcastle
The bookmakers were not expecting Daniels Baniel to do anything special in the Williamhill.com Stakes, but the dashing white and black dog stunned everyone with an easy victory at Newcastle on Saturday, June 9th.
The Grade A1 event finished the day on a great note. Ahead of the 480 metres race, Elwick Archer was declared the 5-2 favourite. With the second lowest odds of 5-1, Daniels Baniel kicked off the proceedings from the red box.
After a couple of unlucky outings, H. Williams’ trainee was determined to do the damage. He strike while the iron was hot, putting the opposition under tremendous pressure in the beginning. Soon after the start, Bruce Ali’s son established his dominance
that he retained till the winning post.
Following an excellent effort, the maverick hound stopped the clock in 29.98 seconds, securing the top position by two lengths. Bringbackbertie also had a trouble-free run, but failed to make things problematic for the champion hound.
A. Dawson’s charge was lucky to grab the second place by a neck’s distance. On the other hand, M. Walsh’s favourite hound, Elwick Archer, could not dominate the affairs despite a clear run. The black dog missed the runner-up spot by a neck’s distance.
Earlier in the day, the spectators at Newcastle saw Ardfert Mark beating his opponents in the William Hill Supporting Racing Post TV Stakes. The black dog displayed an impeccable show, sustaining his advantage till the finishing line.
After starting his act from the blue box, Royal Impact’s son did a wonderful job, covering the area in 30.03 seconds. He beat Fagans Guest by five lengths to finish on top of the table.
While Ardfert Mark gave no one any chance to spoil his party, the rest of the pack battled hard for a place among top-3. Fagans Guest was lucky to grab the runner-up place by a length’s distance whereas the third position belonged to Myway Blueboy.
On the other hand, the 2-1 favourite, Nadurra Alvaro, could not live up to the expectations and fell fifth on the chart. After a massive mistake at the second bend, J. Wright’s trainee was in no position to do anything special.
