Nuggets score the last nine points in the game to put an end to Grizzlies 8 game winning streak
Denver Nuggets edged out Memphis Grizzlies 97-92 here at the FedExForum on Monday night, snapping the Grizzlies 8 match winning streak.
Nuggets came to Memphis with a 3 game losing streak and were led by Danilo Gallinari who scored the game high 26 points. He was well supported by Kenneth Faried who posted a double-double with 13 points and as many rebounds while
JaVale McGee came off the bench with 15 points and 8 rebounds under his belt.
Rudy g*y led the Grizzlies once again with 22 points; Marc Gasol had 16 points and 6 rebounds while Zach Randolph continued his double-double streak with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Z-Bo has scored a double-double in all 10 games
this season. The Grizzlies were outrebounded 47-33 that led to Nuggets scoring 50 points off the paint on the back of 21 offensive rebounds.
Gallinari knocked down a three pointer for the Nuggets early in the period to tie the score at 7. Marc Gasol jumper put the Grizzlies ahead on 11-7 before the Nuggets evened it out on 11. The score was tied quite a many times in
the period and the lead kept switching hands before a Andre Iguodala turn around bank shot put the Denver up 21-19. The Nuggets were up 25-20 at one stage before some late scoring by the Grizzlies reduced the Denver advantage to 27-26 by the end of the period.
The score was tied on 32 early in the second period and a Zach Randolph layup made it all square on 36 again. g*y sank a three pointer to put the Grizzlies up at 45-41, but the Nuggets replied in style with an 8-0 burst going up
49-45. A Lawson three pointer pushed their advantage to 52-47 before Grizzlies pulled back two just before the whistle to head into second half trailing by 49-52.
Denver were up 56-53 early in the third period before the Grizzlies went for a 8 for none scoring spree to snatch away the lead at 61-56. Memphis were ahead on 65-60 about three minutes from the end of the period but the Nuggets
were giving them nothing for granted. The Nuggets managed to close down the gap to one and ended the period trailing by 69-70.
A 13-0 run interconnected between the two quarters pushed the Nuggets ahead on 77-70. The Grizzlies replied with a 13-4 run to get ahead again on 83-81. The Grizzlies were up 87-83 and we had seen enough of them in the past few
weeks to predict that they may go on to win from that position, but it was not to be. Nuggets upped their game and tied the game immediately on 87. They were down again at 88-92 with less than 2 minutes on the regulation, but scored the last 9 points in the
game to sneak in a win.
