Danish Junior Cup 2012: Rasmus Grill Noes crushes Kalle Koljonen to clinch Men’s Singles title
Denmark’s in-form player Rasmus Grill Noes stole the limelight as he claimed Men’s Singles title after proving his worth in the final battle when he toppled Finland’s Kalle Koljonen at the Danish Junior Cup 2012 in Denmark, on Sunday, October 14.
The spirited Rasmus, who was positioned at number five in Men’s Singles seeding of the tournament, surprised everyone by playing remarkable badminton and stunner his higher ranked opponent Koljonen who was the second seed in the main draw.
Danish player showed his aggression on court and stayed ahead of his rival throughout the battle.
Rasmus did not show any respect to his Finnish challenger and grabbed victory by finishing up the final battle in straight games with a decent margin in 45 minutes.
The higher ranked Koljonen, on the contrary, was not ready for such a tough opposition as he could not create pressure on his local opponent at any stage of the title match.
Koljonen also failed to cope up with the pressure on court and remained unable to avoid defeat from the hands of his Danish challenger in straight sets.
The impressive Danish players started his run in the opening set in a spirited fashion as he matched the speed of his higher ranked opponent and stayed close to him on score board until the end of opening half.
In the concluding part of opening set, both shuttlers employed all of their skills to get a strong position but none of them could managed it until the ending points.
At this crucial stage in first game, Rasmus showed his brilliance and snatched the game with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game of title match, Rasmus did not spare any chance for his Finnish opponent to build a reasonable lead at the opening stage.
Rasmus was in remarkable form as he played attacking and positive badminton and maintained pressure on his second seeded challenger until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Rasmus remained positive and sailed smoothly all the way to bag the second set with a 21-16 score on the board.
Rasmus won the Men’s Singles title in a dominating way with a decent total of 21-19 and 21-16.
