Danish Kaneria’s dream of making a comeback in Pakistan’s national team will stay a dream, at least for some time. Kaneria’s email failed to satisfy Pakistan Cricket Board’s integrity committee.
PCB petitioned Kaneria to bring a clearance certificate from his former county club http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783, as the legspinner was arrested by English police last summer after the cricketer was alleged to be involved in spot-fixing along with another player in the English
domestic competition. The leggy was, however, released as no evidence was found that could be held against him.
Kaneria re-submitted an email, which he received from Essex, earlier this week. In the email message the county side thanked the legspinner for the services he lent to the club during his stay and also gave details as to why they did not renew his contract.
The club clarified that his exclusion was not done on reason of spot-fixing. However, the PCB cited that the email which was sent to them is from 2010.
Nadeem Sarward, PCB spokes person said, “The clearance letter he sent is something he sent to us six months ago and which we had. We sought legal opinion and confirmed with the ECB, and decided that the document failed to satisfy the requirements of the
PCB. So Kaneria has been advised to provide a clearance certificate at the earliest.”
Taffuzul Rizvi, PCB’s legal advisor, informed that the contents of clearance certificate are vague and explicated that the board is looking for Essex’s verdict on the whole spot-fixing scandal involving Kaneria.
He further expressed that PCB also wants to know whether Essex would have employed the player again, had they wanted.
Rizvi states that it is not their concern whether Kaneria is able to get such a document from his former club. He, however, indicated that getting the required certificate will take some time due to which Nani-Danny’s international recall has to wait, further
denting his career.
Kaneria is amongst Pakistan’s best bowler in Test matches. He has not played any international cricket for Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749.
Kaneria found his place in the Green Shirts squad in a series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. His inclusion however, was short lived as the PCB prevented him from travelling with the team upon non-clearance from the integrity committee.
