Danish Kaneria fails to get clearance by the PCB once again

Pakistani leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) dismiss the documents
submitted by him for his clearance in the spot-fixing scandal that hit http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 county last year.

Kaneria, who is the most successful spin bowler in the Pakistan’s Test history, has been in the wilderness since the tour of England last year; he was dropped from the national
team after a poor start to the test series against England where he was taken for runs in the match played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

Subsequently, he was chosen in the team that was to play two Tests against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 last year. However, he was pulled out of the team at the last minute as PCB felt that
he was not exonerated in the Essex spot-fixing episode that involved fast bowler Mervyn Westfield.

Kaneria was arrested for a short while along with Westfield, yet according to the leg spinner, he was cleared by PCB.

PCB had asked him to provide a clearance certificate from the county which was endorsed by English Cricket Board (ECB) in order for him to resume his international career,
however, the Karachi based bowler has not been able to provide satisfactory evidence, which has delayed his clearance yet again.

"We have responded to Kaneria," PCB spokesman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nadeem-Sarwar-c78422 told media in Pakistan. "The clearance letter he sent is something he sent to us six months ago and which we had.
We sought legal opinion and confirmed with the ECB, and decided that the document failed to satisfy the requirements of the PCB."

On the other hand, the legal advisor of the Board, Taffazul Rizvi stated that the body has a zero tolerance on corruption and has learnt its lessons after the spot-fixing
debacle last year which resulted on bans on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993. Rizvi added that the Board was in no position of taking a risk with any player thus, Kaneria has to meet the criterion set by the body if he has to play at the highest
level again.

"This is an integrity issue for us," Rizvi had said nearly two weeks ago, when asking for the clearance certificate.

"The committee is not just made up of board members or cricketers, it has an ex-judge of the Supreme Court on it and in their opinion, Kaneria had not satisfied them so he
has not been cleared.”

Meanwhile, another player yet to get clearance from PCB, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 is believed to be trying his hardest to influence the Board through some high placed officials in the
government, yet for the time being his efforts seem to be getting him scant rewards.
