The Danish maestro Peter Hoeg Gade paid homage to his contemporary Chinese shuttler Lin Dan by calling him the greatest of his times.
The 35-year-old Danish living legend Peter Gade is going to grace the Olympics for the last time as he is expected to call it a day after spending 17 years in badminton arena, which itself a record that nobody is likely going to break.
The former All England champion Peter Gade is determined to end on high despite of the fact that he will have to excel the top players like Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Chen Jin, Chen Long and Lee Hyun-Il in his last All England Open.
But out of all these heavy weights, Peter Gade is impressed by the Chinese ace Lin Dan only and calls him the greatest and incomparable.
Gade said, “But there is no doubt that Lin Dan is the best of them. I don't think that anyone is close to him, to be honest. “
Peter Gade supported his statement by referring to one of the greatest match of badminton history between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei. He gave tribute to Lin Dan’s brilliance in World Championships last year.
He said, “I think he made a point at the world championships. It was incredible. It was not the best Lin Dan has played, but his mental attitude was the best. And he is the best player ever.”
Peter Gade is confident that he will register his class and bag the best in All England Open. He skipped the German Open and Thomas Cup preliminaries just to work towards this prestigious event which has become more important for him as he will not be around
till next episode of All England open.
The World Number four Peter Gade has already earned his spot in the London Olympics and he is likely saying good-bye after the mega event.
An era will come to an end as its not the Peter Gade only who intends to bid farewell. In fact, a couple of other legends like World Number one Malaysian shuttler Lee Chong Wei, former World and Olympic champion Indonesian player Taufik Hidayat and current
World champion of China Lin Dan are also saying goodbye to badminton arena after London Olympics 2012.
