Danish men won the UCI Track World Cup II, 2012
Denmark shined during the UCI Track World Cup II, opening day with its men dominating the event after an astonishing performance.
Casper Folsach, Lasse Norman Hansen, Mathias Moller Nielsen and Rasmus Christian Quaade took a total time of  0:04:02.981 and occupied the top podium position in the Men Team Pursuit Qualifying event.
Team Germany consisting of Lucas Liss, Henning Bommel, Theo Reinhardt and Kersten Thiele fell five seconds short and occupied the second position.
Team Spain (Asier Maeztu Billelabeitia, Sebastian Mora Vedri, David Muntaner Juaneda, llart Zuazubiskar Gallastegui), Team Belgium (Kenny De Ketele, Jasper De Buyst, Moreno De Pauw, Gijs Van Hoecke) and Team Switzerland (Olivier Beer , Tristan Marguet, Frank Pasche, Thery Schir) occupied the third, fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Poor performance by British men as the likes of Owain Doull, Samuel Harrison, Joseph Kelly and Andrew Tennant was the only team that could not finish the race.
However, British women team made up for their men’s mistake and secured the second spot at the Women’s Team Pursuit losing to their traditional rival, Australia with a fraction of a second.
Ashlee Ankudinoff, Amy Cure and Melissa Hoskins of Team Australia wins the women’s team pursuit after completing the race in a total time of 0:03:24.161 while Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Danielle King achieving the second position with a time of 0:03:25.626.
"It's looking good for the future," Trott told BBC Sport about Barker's performance.
"To step into our line up, being world and Olympic champions is going to be hard anyway, but it's as if she's been in the team for months".
BBC reported the British coach Chris Newton as saying, "It's just one of those things. It hasn't happened for a couple of years”.
"Man two, Joe [Kelley], overlapped the wheel and lost it. Man three and four [Harrison and Tennant] came down straight into him".
Jessica Varnish and Rebecca James helped Team Great Britain with a first place finish at the Women’s Team Sprint after the duo finished the race in a total time of 0:00:33.526.
Team Spain (Tania Calvo Barbero, Helena) achieved the second position with a deficit of almost a second while Team France (Sandie Clair, Olivia Montauban), Team Russia (Daria Shmeleva, Anastasiya Voynova) and Team Petroholding Leningrad (Elena Brezhniva , Ekaterina Gnidenko) finishing at the third, fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
